Up before dawn to watch the magnificent beast that is Andillac’s “machine à vendanger” pick our black Duras grapes. In the time it took for the sun to rise the machine was finished and Jack was driving 2.5 tonnes of grapes up the field to our winery. We’re making rosé with this part of the Duras crop so it was important to get the grapes quickly destemmed, through the press and into the tanks which cool the juice and protect it against oxidation. After all that planning Jack’s new winery performed perfectly. The juice is clear, rosé and almost shockingly sweet. Now to let it settle before starting the fermentation and making some wine!
Congratulations on your first harvest of grapes and wine, the first of many! Looking forward to tasting it.
Congratulations on the harvest and the great photos you are taking of the process!
Dearest Margaret and Jack,
The news and pictures from Clos Rocailleux bring tears to my eyes – happy but emotional. Well done to everyone involved all the very best and so much love. Ruth/Mum
